The Midwest Railway serves to connect the eponymous midwest with the broader transportation grid. This railway is not particularly glamorous, connecting sparsely-served cities, but ita virtue is opening up the front range to travel to a city begging for growth.
The Midwest Railway connects the following cities, South to North:
El Paso, TX / Juarez, MX
Albuquerque, NM
- Colorado Springs, CO
Denver, CO
- Cheyenne, WY
- Billings, MT
Billings-Bozeman Inland, MT
- Bozeman, MT
Calgary, CAN, AB
The construction of this line would be immediately focused on a regional Maglev service between Cheyenne, Denver, and Pueblo.
Upon demonstration of the system, in coordination with Canada, the line would be extended to Calgary on the basis of the Canadian Transcontinental line being established. Calgary needn't be connected East-West before being connected North-South.
The baseline infrastructure connecting to that initial Denver stretch would be performed eventually, as the Southern Transcontinental line was build through El Paso and the Redline Transcontinental reached Albuquerque. In this way, the Midwest Railway creates permanent connections to the "backbone" transcontinental routes on the East-West alignment.
Upon completion of the Calgary and El Paso / Juarez Stations, the route would then become the Midwest International Railway
Calgary plays hockey.
A hub for the region, and an interconnect for pipelines.
It's way up there, ready for a connection.
