The Mideast Railway, while not a direct International corridor, connects to the Great Lakes by way of Chicago. Presently Chicago is the central Nexus of the Amtrak logistics network, and virtually all long distance routes covering any part of the center of the country flow through it. The Great Lakes system provides some amount of shipping and trade, and is a principle connection point to both the proposed Northern International Railway and a proposed Antrak route covering the international link to Toronto, CAN, ON.
